All the students of Grade 7 – 10 assembled in the school at 6:30 om on Sunday 7th September. They had an early dinner and left by an AC bus at 8:00 pm. For Kanyakumari. During their journey, there was music dance. They reached Kanyakumari at 4:30 am. They went to a hotel, washed up quickly returned to the sunrise point and enjoyed the view – something so awesome. From there they headed for  the Cape Camorin the meeting place of the Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean and Bay of Bengal. They also saw the Kanyakumari temple and the Gandhi museum – where a guide had explained of how sunlight falls on the hole only on October 2nd every year, on the place where Gandhiji’s ashes were kept for darshan before immersing it into the sea. From the top of the museum another beautiful view of the ‘Fish Park’ Light House and the Radar – The next place of visit was the Vivekananda Rock Memorial and the Thiruvalluvar Statue – It was at this place that the Tsunami hit, in 2004. The children interacted with the local people and got first hand information about the effects of the Tsunami in Kanyakumari. They then returned to the hotel and packed for the Thiruparapu waterfalls – Nagercoil. A marvelous sight and children played in the water and enjoyed thoroughly. On their way back, they had dinner and took their night rest in Sea View Hotel. The next morning, 9th September they woke up warly and witnessed the beautiful sunrise, once again and then left for KKAP which is around 25 Kms from Kanyakumari. They reached there by 10:00 am – had refreshments and headed straight to the auditorium where there was an audio visual briefing about the research centre.  Mr. Kannan, the took them to another hall where he explained about the centre using a model. Everyone was then made to wear a helmet and go to the 9th floor – the middle part of the unclear sector where the chemical, uranium is assembled. They were then taken to the sea site from where water is connected to the nuclear sector for cooling the reactor. They then had lunch and left for Tirunelveli – Did a little bit of shopping for an hour and moved on their return journey stopped at Airya’s for dinner and headed straight back to school at 4:30 am
