Republic Day Celebration
Our country celebrates Republic Day on the 26th of January, every year. This day is of great importance in the history of our freedom struggle.
We began the day with the flag hoisting ceremony which was led by Mr. Rajaram, retired Govt. High School Headmaster, Tirupur. The other dignitaries were the Principal SCAD Institute of Technology, Dr. Ravichandran, our AGM, Mr. Durai Murgan and our Principal, Mr. Frederick Sam. After the salute we sang the National Anthem and concluded the ceremony, by saying a solemn pledge and expressing our gratitude towards our country.
The morning assembly opened with a welcome address by Michael Sam of Grade 10 who also was the master of ceremony for the day. There was a speech in English by Vaibhav of Grade 8 and Tamil speech by Sridharshini of Grade 7. The chief guest addressed the gathering and he was honoured with a bouquet, shawl a gift and a SCAD appreciated moments. The Principal then gave the vote of thanks.
The cultural part of the Republic Day began with the girls taking the stage for a classical fusion dance followed by poetry recitation by Sharav Anand and Dhanvanth of Grade 3. There was a special freedom song by children of Pre-Primary – We shall overcome. The Republic Day speech by Ms. Jegatha emphasized on how we should follow the footsteps of our freedom fighters.
We also had the inauguration of the SCAD World School Clubs and Associations. Each teacher came up and spoke passionately about their club and what they would be doing in the future and encouraged the children to join their club.
The tiny tots were taken for another fun-filled activity of games like, balloon bursting, musical chairs and blow and spill. After a short break a Rangoli competition for groups 3 and 4 began.
Without wasting of any time the other students went in for games like obstacle race, the kangaroo relay and the treasure hunt in which everyone participated enthusiastically and with bursts of energy
